IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), a leading hotel company, announced the signing of a franchise agreement for a hotel under two brands in Gdańsk together with Marvipol Development.
The building, which is scheduled to open in May 2021, will accommodate the Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites. It will be the second two-park IHG complex in Poland – last year the company announced the opening of its largest hotel in Poland, 430-room Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express in Warsaw.
The new hotel will have a convenient location – only 1.9 km from the Gdańsk Wrzeszcz railway station and 10.7 km from the Gdańsk Airport. Lech Wałęsa – in the center of Oliwa, a vibrant business district with the largest office space in Gdańsk. About 70 percent of the Tri-City office space is located in Gdańsk (over 438 800 sqm), and soon there will be 140,000 sqm.
It is also close to the popular tourist destination of Sopot.
The 210-room Holiday Inn Express will be located on floors two through six. It will be the first Holiday Inn Express® in Poland with a brand Next Generation design, which combines home comfort with clever solutions such as soundproof headboards, USB ports on beds and flexible work space in the room. This hotel will be the reference point for future owners, developers, investors, construction companies and suppliers of Holiday Inn Express hotels.
The 136-room Staybridge Suites will take floors from the seventh to the tenth. This hotel brand offers spacious studios and one- and two-room apartments for a longer stay, ensuring a homely atmosphere during a longer stay.
Miguel Martins, Director of IHG Development in Poland, said: “We are very happy with the planned opening of the hotel under two IHG brands in Gdańsk. It is a city popular among business guests and tourists, and our Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn Express brands offer them perfectly matched options for longer or shorter business stays, when moving or on vacation.”
Mariusz Poławski, Vice-President of Marvipol Development, said: “We are very happy to establish cooperation with IHG for the first time and plans to build this two-room hotel. Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites are trusted hotel brands and in our opinion they will satisfy the most-growing demand in this location. We are ready to work together on the successful implementation of this investment.”
IHG currently has 10 open hotels in Poland (1,715 rooms) and 14 planned (2,514 rooms)
