Horizon Plaza office complex, owned by Union Investment, has been certified with a BREEAM In-Use certificate. The facility earned a Very Good rating in the Asset category and Excellent in the Building Management category. The certification strategy was prepared by Colliers International.
Colliers submitted recommendations on improvements to the building and coordinated their implementation. The company was also responsible for ensuring that documents were compliant with BREEAM requirements.
“During the certification, we implemented a number of procedures designed to optimise the conditions inside the building, paying particular attention to air quality and the materials used during adaptation work. An important distinction for Colliers, which manages Horizon Plaza, is the second highest rating for managing the facility,” commented Andrzej Gutowski of Colliers, who coordinated the certification process.
The project was analysed by an ecologist, who created a list of solutions to reduce the negative impact of the property on the environment and enhance biodiversity. Also introduced was a purchasing policy that places a premium on regional, energy-efficient and recycled products. The complex is cleaned with environmentally-friendly products.
An important objective of the certification process in Horizon Plaza was to reduce water consumption. Water-efficient solutions have been implemented in toilets and the flow of water has been regulated to reduce its amount. BRE also positively evaluated the level of natural light and the very good location of the facility.
Horizon Plaza with its characteristic undulating façade was completed in 2009. The complex consists of two buildings offering 35,000 sqm of Class-A office space. The project is located in Mokotów, in one of the most important business centres in Warsaw. Nearly 600 parking spaces are available to tenants and visitors. Union Investment, which holds the complex in its open-ended real estate fund UniImmo: Global, owns assets in Poland worth in excess of EUR 860 million.
